Wabi Sabi
Wabi sabi
Wabi-Sabi–inspired residence
Inspired by the way natural materials and structure shape experience, this Wabi-Sabi–inspired residence reinterprets a Japanese-influenced Craftsman ethos for a contemporary New Mexico setting. Rooted in a Monozukuri sensibility, the home embraces beauty grounded in material integrity and the act of making, with honest finishes and intentional simplicity creating interiors that feel calm, tactile, and inherently livable. Designed for owners who love to cook and gather, the kitchen serves as the heart of the home, anchored by custom dark-stained cabinetry with pronounced cathedral grain, porcelain countertops, and softly textured limewash walls that diffuse the desert light. Throughout, handcrafted elements—including custom millwork, wood doors, and artisan-made furnishings—reinforce a sense of quiet craftsmanship, while sculptural lighting, framed views, and intimate seating moments create a home that feels both refined and effortlessly lived-in.
